On Sunday, October 13, I ran 10 km at the Deejay Ten in Milan
The past few days have been incredibly intense and full of experiences that will stay with me. Last Saturday, I finally returned to Italy, specifically to Milan, for a special event that awaited me the next morning: the Deejay Ten, a non-competitive 10 km race, together with the Cisalfa Run Crew.
I have to admit that this race was quite a unique challenge for me. As you know, I am a sprinter, and my world stops at 400 meters. I had never faced such a long distance, let alone outside my usual track.
The evening before the race, I had the chance to meet the rest of the team during a team-building dinner. It was immediately clear that we were a very diverse group: athletes from various disciplines, with different backgrounds, yet all united by the same desire to have fun and push ourselves.
Sunday morning started early, with the alarm clock ringing at 6:30 AM. After a quick breakfast, I headed out to collect my race bib. There was a special energy in the air, the kind that only certain events can create. Together with the team, we warmed up, ready to start from the San Siro Stadium, one of Milan’s most iconic places.
When the time came to start, I felt no pressure: no time goals, no performance expectations. The only thing I had promised myself was to have fun, and that’s exactly what happened. Running in good company and feeling the city wake up with us was a unique experience.
In the end, the goal was fully achieved: I had fun and shared precious moments with new friends. This experience reminded me how important it is to step out of your comfort zone every now and then to discover new challenges.
Now, I’m already looking forward to the next challenge!
