The 2024-25 indoor season kicks off with the Andalusian Team Championships

On Sunday, December 15, the 2024-25 indoor season officially began. Typically, my indoor season starts in January, when I have more than three months of winter training behind me. This year, however, I decided to bring forward my debut to participate in the Andalusian Team Indoor Championships. This debut had special significance for me as I hadn’t competed indoors since January 30, 2022, due to several injuries that kept me away from competitions.

I represented my Spanish club, Atletismo del Sur Coop La Palma, competing at the indoor track in Antequera, the “Centro de Tecnificación Especializado de Atletismo”, a high-performance center located in the province of Málaga.

The competition was structured as a team event: each club fields one athlete for each event, earning points in descending order based on placement. The final standings are determined by adding up the points of all the athletes. The championship saw participation from the top 10 men’s and women’s teams in Andalusia.

For my club, I competed in the 200 meters and as the fourth leg of the 4x400m relay, securing third place in both events.

Although athletics is an individual sport, competitions like these turn the experience into something resembling a team sport: each athlete steps onto the track with the goal of scoring points for their club, and the support from teammates creates an atmosphere of great unity and mutual encouragement.

Both the men’s and women’s teams from our club finished in third place in the Andalusia region, a result that rewards effort and teamwork.
